"Her outdoors" bought three crowns today and planted them. All we have to do

I thought it took anything up to five years before you got a decent crop?

I planted eighteen asparagus crowns last year.

Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion
now accepted was once eccentric. ~Bertrand Russell (1872-1970)

The longer you leave them the better, hence "All we have to do now is wait"
but we could start harvesting from year three according to the books. What
are the experts comments on this one?

I hope to sneak a few from our three year olds this year - but they're not
even coming up yet :-(

Three years is about right, I would have thought.

Ours are just showing.

I was very young when I was first introduced to Asparagus. It was during the
war when an Aunt, a wonderful cook, served it up, cooked in butter in a side
dish!!

I can see it now and it makes my mouth water ;-)

Can't wait. ??? What? Another year?

:-(

I grew mine (Mary Washington) from seed sent to me by my mother from Canada.
I germinated them in the airing cupboard and when they got large enough we
planted them down the allotment and we were eating them after three years.

Our 3 year old Ginjin are producing a decent crop of thick stems at the moment.

I am still waiting for my Pacific Purples to appear....
