Default Reliable tree nursery which will despatch?

I'm looking for several container-grown trees - while I'd prefer
bare-root, this is too late in the year.

I'm looking for
Apples: one each of Charles Ross; Devonshire Quarenden.
Quince (big yellow pear-shaped one)
Damson.

The message
from Judith in France contains these words:

One nursery not too far from you that might well be able to help you,
is Pfobs on thae Watton Road. The dear old chap died last year and
left the nursery to the man who had worked for him all his life - what
a gesture. I can't speak for the quality now, it is under new
ownership. The new owner is V. Moore, Watton Road, Colney, Norwich.

Ooo ta. Thanks for reminding me of Phobs. I'll look into it.

They don't appear to have either of the apples. Meant to say to Rusty that
the quince he wants is Cydonia oblonga, not Chaenomeles.

Isn't the latter the Japanese quince?

Too troo, old fruit.

Just planted five apricot trees, a peach, a thornless (cut-leaved)
blackberry, some raspberries, alpine strawberries. Got a Tayberry and
some tame strawbs to go in next.

Yes. Not really a true quince, but an excellent shrub - I have several :-)

The message

What are you going to do with all the fruit, start a cottage industry
in jam making :-)

Since I live in an old farmworker's cottage...

(I have just bought loads of Kilner tops to go with loads of Kilner
jars. Also have stacks of screwtop jars of other sorts - mainly jammy -
and a freezer)

TAAAW, I make quite a lot of wines and other stuff like sloe gin,
morello cherry rum, strawberry whisky, etc.

Urglemoot, anyone?

| I have one - which is trying to become several - that's the big one with
| fruit the shape and size of a peach.
|
| Makes excellent jelly.

Also chutney. Can be used in puddings. And is an excellent treatment
for drunken teenagers.
