moving hostas..
 

I have been forced to remove my hostas, they are in the way of a new low
wall, no, he wont go another way....what are my chances of their survival?
They needed splitting anyway, as I can probably get a dozen or more plants
from what was originally one, thanks in advance.

Don't make the bits too small and water in well, you should have no
problem.

Thanks Charlie, Some are big bits, and some are small.....hope they will
survive!

We moved some large, well-established, hostas from a neighbour's garden
when they were just coming into flower as he was creating a new drive and
they were in the way! We made sure there was a lot of soil around their
roots, watered them in and made sure they stayed watered and it was as if
they hadn't noticed they'd been moved. We decided they would do better if
we didn't split them at that time but waited until they were properly
established. We now have an extensive clump which are completely ignored
by slugs :-)

that's good news, even better regarding the slugs!!

I am no expert but i had some large hostas in large pots ,and i split them in half and planted them elsewhere ,and now they are doing just fine, so i think you will have no problem to move and split them.
