Filtering using a newsreader

There's a sudden increase in the rubbish this NG is getting, from people
like Martin, sick minded saddos with nothing to do in life but abuse
people on the internet.
If you want to get rid of these postings you will need a dedicated
Newsreader. if you are using Windows, then try Agent, or NewsRover or a
similar client. For the Mac try MacSoup or Hogwasher and for Linux try
Pan.

All the above newsreaders will allow you to "filter" out specific
postings quite easily. Agent for Windows has a very good help page with
"regular expressions" listed.

If you want to get rid of this rubbish then you will need a dedicated
newsreader. Once you've got one the rest is easy.

Google Groups is useless if that's the way you are accessing Usenet. If
only because a lot of saddos use it to post abuse, with the result that
a lot of clued up Usenet users will automatically filter out postings
from Google groups.

The other way to cut down on the rubbish is just to ignore these sad
people. They want and need the excitement they generate when people
respond to them. So remember "DON'T FEED THE TROLLS".

Yep, I set up my newsreader to filter posts from Google Groups and 90
percent of the junk disappeared.

Raining? Haven't seen much rain this month at all, about 10mm. May
normally has 75mm (+/- 25mm). Today is bright sunshine and little fluffy
clouds. The F6 E'ly gusting to the mid 30's mph is keeping it cool though
at about 12C and a windchill not much above freezing.

As for spam postings use a proper news reader *and* decent newserver that
actively monitors and filters the groups they carry. Rather than some toy
town, slow and clunky, web interface.
