Difficulty starting a Honda strimmer
 

I have a 4-stroke Honda "Brush cutter" as it calls itself, though I
would call it a "strimmer", type UMK425E. It took 2 men to start after
the winter and I cannot start it all after it stood idle for 3 weeks-
surely a normal length of standing for a tool of this kind.

And suggestions as to how to get the *** to work?

Did you run the carburettor dry when you laid it up for the winter? If not
the usual problem is the fuel in the carburettor evaporates leaving a
deposit which blocks the jets. A carburettor strip down and thorough clean
may get it going again.

How old is it? After a few years the diaphragms in the carburettor that pump
the fuel from the tank need replacing. They are not expensive so replace
those whilst you are in there.

Try removing the air filter and see if it starts, they're prone to getting
blocked. If it starts, replace the filter. This may be nothing more than a
bit of sponge. Longer term use without the filter is not recommended.
