Wild winds

It is really wild here today. Wind is gusting so strongly it has overturned
a
heavy hardwood three seater bench, overturned several pots and smashed one
of them, broken a 4" dia bough from the Tulip tree and completely flattened
some Lupins I was particularly proud of having grown them from seed.

Shows the largest bow to have come down so far.

Mike

Yup -this can be a sad result of winds at this time of the year.
The bow would have probably survived a wind of the same force in say
January.

Nice photos, and dogs! Windy here but we've missed the worst for a change so
no damage yet touch wood

Windy here but sunny, too. Nothing like those damaging winds Mike has
experienced - that's very bad luck.

Same here in Leics. One of my lilacs has been pulled out of the ground by
the wind and is lying across the path. It's not a young tree, it was here
when I moved in in 1986.

Windy here in Norfolk too. Plenty of hedges and trees to slow it down,
but still some things blown over and 'repositioned'.

Bough, and you know it. It's clear to me what is meant. It really does not
matter if people cannot spell the exact word they are looking for, but it
does say something about yourself.

But how can you assume that he knows that?

Good for you.

For some who read newsgroups it can mean dyslexia and that they are
struggling to learn how to spell and read correctly or to see words as you
see them with your perfect word vision. Rusty is absolutely NOT the sort of
person who pulls others up on their spelling or grammar. He just is not -
he plays the merry fool with English himself, just for fun. A bough, a bow
as in courtier and a bow, as in an archer's bow made from a tree, or the
decoration on a girl's dress, can confuse this issue and perhaps this is a
case in point. Most of us are of a helpful inclination. You took offence
with me making some innocent remark about fish on ukfd, which surprised me
quite a lot and now you're doing it here. Relax a bit and allow for the
fact that most want to help and some can misunderstand, hmmmmm?!

Well, I didn't.

I had assumed that it was some reference to the shape of the branches,
or a dialect or technical usage that I was unaware of. Not everyone
maps text into speech when reading, and even then "bow" in a gardening
context would normally map to "bo".

Regards,
Nick Maclaren.

Don't jump to conclusions. It wasn't clear to me either.
