Hydrangeas, weak stems

Can anyone tell me how to strengthen the stems of hydrangeas? I have a new one, bought last year and it's growing beautifully but every time we get heavy rain the stalk bend, sometimes snap and they never recover thereafter. I don't want to lose the blooms for next year.

Pam.,

What variety is it. If it has a big mop-head the combined weight of the
head and rain will be too heavy for its stems. You may need to support
them, but that is very difficult and expensive with so many flowers to
support. It is not a question of strengthening the stems.
