Default Mange tout & sugar snap peas

Are there any difference, or just two names for the same thing?

The latter are usually the fat form - i.e. shaped like a short,
fat French bean.

Mange-tout are eaten when the pods are still relatively flat, sugar snap
can be eaten when the peas inside have swollen to normal pea size.

Mangetout are flat broad pods and ime almost always stringy & tough.
Sugar snaps look like ordinary peas but are cooked whole - pod and
all, though they can be podded but if they are very full they can be
quite fiddly to open. I much prefer the sugar snaps. If you prefer
growing fairly short plants read the seed packets, some varieties are
very tall.
