I am just about to embark on planting a small orchard- with standard
fruit trees- Does anyone out there have any good experiences with
Fruit tree mail order companies- there seems to be loads out there.
Thanks

Highfield Nurseries, Whitminster, Gloucestershire, have never let us
down over 30 years of buying from them, both when we lived in
Gloucestershire and now we live in Scotland. They have a pretty good
range, too.

Also Scotts of Merriott, though I haven't ordered from them since they
set up their website, Reads, and Rogers. Rogers and Scotts for number of
apple varieties.

IRTA 'Mail under fruit trees' and had to look...

In answer to your question, Ken Muir have always suited me, and have
made good any deficiencies without quibble.

I bought bare-root apples etc. from Victoriana nurseries this time
last year and found them a pleasure to deal with. http://www.victoriananursery.co.uk
They also sell beautiful children's spades.

I only found them because Keepers nurseries (+ some others) wouldn't
ship to Ireland (although Keepers answered me promptly and politely,
to be fair to them.)

I ended up spending £165 with Victoriana that time (and can't
understand why some other nurseries won't even quote me a price for
shipping over here.)

Hope this helps.

I've had some excellent bare rooted trees from R.V. Rogers, in N. Yorks - they have a good selection too.

Reads Nursery as mentioned by Kay is very good, have you not been
there Rusty as it is pretty near to you? It makes for an interesting
visit, knowledgeable and helpful staff who are really keen to sell you
the right tree for the right conditions.

Nope. There's near and 'near'.

I've had excellent service from Keepers Nursery (google it), who have the widest range of varieties of any commercial nursery in the country. I have also visited it for its tasting weekend. But you have to reserve things, which are sent out just once a year, and you will find this late in the year that they have sold out of many things already.

Some of the best plants I've seen and properly packed, good service
from a couple who are devoted to growing fruit trees.
