Phormiums don't flower but are evergreen and available in a variety of leaf colour. A Cotoneaster waterii could be grown as a standard as has been discussed in a different thread here and you'd have flowers and then berries. And for winter flowering you could try a Lonicera purpusii or a Daphne odora aureomarginata. But what you grow will depend, to some extent, on the climate of your area. Whatever you choose, raise your pots off the ground a little so that they drain properly and your plants don't 'drown'. And in dry weather, remember that pots dry out quickly but again, must drain well, too. -- -- Sacha www.hillhousenursery.com Exotic plants, shrubs & perennials South Devon |
