Turf or Seed?
 

Hi
I will be putting in a new lawn in around 6 weeks time.

Turf or lawn? Which to go with?

Area is roughly 30m2 and I would be willing to spend around £3 per square
metre on turf -so £90

I can buy the seed for about £20.

I am doing a large project, so instant grass to finish it is tempting and it
actually seems like less work than seeding.

How long would seed take to come through from say mid July?

I have tried seeding before but i got some weeds (admittedly i didn't spend
ages researching how to do it properly)

lawn will get moderate use, no kids on it all the time but maybe now and
again on weekends.

I'd got for turf every time. It costs more, but it's so much less hassle.

I agree with this and have done it myself. But do be sure to find a
reputable company so that you get a lawn that at least starts weed
free. I seem to remember someone on here a while ago complaining that a
turf lawn had been laid that produced a lovely crop of weeds a few
weeks later! Word of mouth is the best recommendation, IMO. If Mo
tells us the area in which he lives, there may be people here who can
offer recommendations.

Probably but I'd suggest you ask around locally first and see what
others have to say about quality. If you import turf from hundreds of
miles away it's going to be quite hard to deal with any disappointment,
if there is any.

Mo have you googled 'Turf Hampshire'?

I have just helped someone on uk.local.hampshire with an ironing problem. As
the saying goes "Google is your friend" Interesting problem he has and I
hope I have helped, might be a good idea for you to go and look at it as you
are in Hampshire and might be able to advise.
