weedkiller and lawn (maybe a silly question...)

Hi quick question,

my new lawn (1year old) is full of weeds and following the advice
from the local nursery I am going to use some weedkiller. Now the
silly question is: Should I spray the weedkiller before or after
cutting the lawn?

Thanks in advance.

Typical instruction is not to spray within 3 days of cutting.

So cut the grass, then spray 3 days later. Don't cut the grass
again for over 3 days (and be careful with the cut grass, it may well
contain residual active weed killer)

Weedkiller works on the leaves, so do it AFTER mowing otherwise (a) you are
wasting weedkiller (b)some weedkiller will end up in your compost bin where
you don't want it.
(You DO have a compost bin don't you?)

I wouldnt spray for at least a week after cutting, remember when you
cut you are reducing the leaf area of the weeds you wish to kill, so
the more leaf area the better the results.
After spraying I'd leave cutting till you see the weeds looking very
sick, dump the grass clipings from at least the first 2 cuttings after
treatment, better to be safe than sorry

or if possible, mulch the clippings back on to the lawn.
