mimosa pudica
 

Hi,
I have got a mimosa pudica (fun grass) in a pot but it has got really big and outgrown its pot.
I just wondered if it would be possible to plant it in the garden or is it too cold in England in the winter.
Would be grateful if someone could advise.

Mimosa pudica shy, bashful or shrinking"; also called Sensitive Plant and the touch-me-not a creeping annual or perennial herb often grown for its curiosity value: the compound leaves fold inward and droop when touched or shaken, re-opening minutes later. The species is native to South America and Central America, but is now a pantropical weed.

It doesn't grow out of doors in England, it is not frost hardy. Don't confuse it with many other quite different things commonly called mimosa, some of which are fairly hardy.
