Pruning a crab-apple tree

Hello -

I have a crab apple tree (I think that's what it is) which is about 6 metes
high, seems healthy, and is currently covering the area in windfalls. It's
getting a bit big for its current location, so I'd like to prune it in the
next few weeks. Are there good and bad times of year for pruning such a
tree? Any other tips?

Thanks.

Usually recommended to prune apples when they are dormant, Jan-Feb.
