Has anyone of you heard of this: http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/articl...NEWS/909099914

Sounds interesting.
I have been in contact with the US supplier and this is an extract
from their reply to me, when I asked how much a Quqrt would do.

The answer you seek is not available in the terms of sq footage as is
most of our products. The reason is simple, the size of the plants
are all different and all areas of the exposed plants are to be
sprayed for maximum protection. Given the size of most Dahlia’s of
2-3 feet(1 meter), a single quart of our Freeze-Pruf should cover
12-14 plants. It will also depend on the amount of foliage on each
plant. So the answer is, to determine the mass of surface to cover
and apply the product liberally to the exposed plant material.

It will take 6 days for the product to be completely absorbed into the
plant to achieve maximum effectiveness and the potential 9.5degrees
(f) of protection.

It will begin to have some effect after 1 hour but will again require
6 days for the most protection possible from the plant.

The product will provide protection for about 6 weeks and then there
is no residue that has been recovered from any component of the plant
or it’s flowers or fruit.

All you've got to do,Dave, is to remove all the leaves from all the
plants, measure them with a ruler and work out the area of each leaf,
Then add them all up and you will know exactly how much to order.
Simple Tsk!

I know that some British wine growers have been using a spray to protect the
vines from late frosts.
