Spinach patch
 

Hi
last year we planted spinach on the allotment, some of which went to
seed. This year we have a vigorous, healthy self-seeded patch of
spinach. My question is should we leave the spinach where it is and so
have a permanent spinach patch, rather like rhubarb? Are there any
drawbacks to this?

Is this real spinach or Leaf Beet?

Leaf Beet self seeds like this, and can be transplanted as long as you
take enough soil to avoid root disturbance. If the tap root get too much
disturbance they tend to bolt instead of producing lots of leaf, and
flowering the next year.
