Default Help identify spots on pear tree please ?

Hello All.

Planted a young Conference pear tree last year. I've not done anything with
it other than feed and drink. Over the last couple of weeks I've noticed
most of the upper leaves have developed this red spotting on them..

The leaves are curling and the poor thing looks a bit sad. Can anyone please
help identify the problem and suggest anything to help?

many thanks,

Rich, Gloucester, UK.

The good news is that it doesn't look like pear rust or fireblight or alternaria or powdery mildew or scab or canker, which are the well known horror fungus problems. So I'm suspecting animal. It might be pear leaf blister mite. Try to see if you can see some mites under a magnifying glass. This suggests it isn't too terrible a thing to have, you could just remove affected leaves by hand. You probably won't be getting fruit off it this year, so you could use a systemic insecticide if it seems to be badly affected.

It looks like pear leaf blister mite. You can google this to find out more,
and maybe a way of getting rid of it.
