"mixed" seeds can be a selection from a wider range. I've done something similar in that I've carved out a new flower bed and strewn it with two packets of wildflower seeds. The packets say they contain at least 10 out of 20 named varieties ... would be nice if each of the packets contained a *different* 10 plants, but you're right.
