Anyone got a favourite peony, someone wants one and I have never grown
them so don't like to recommend any.

Reckon you'll have to be a little more specific as to their requirements as
they vary from dwarf forms barely 50 cm high to tree peonies which can
easily exceed 3 metres.

Yes, see what you mean, just want a four to five foot shrub rather than
a twelve foot one!

Sounds good Janet. I'll tell the person who wants one. She isn't much of
a gardener and is going for "pretty" and what she sees on display so she
wants me to plant a peony to fill a gap in her shrubs. I recommended a
Choisya or an Exorchorda or even Photinia if i kept it small but she
says she would like a peony.

I see that Janet B. has replied. If a shrub (rather than herbaceous
perennial) is wanted, then I would agree with Janet's suggestion. Some of
the Rockii hybrids are very attractive, too.
