Can slow worms survive a move from one garden to another. They are in a
compost bin,

I would move them complete with bin to my garden. They may be killed if
I leave them where they are.

This time of the year when the weather is cooling, being cold blooded, they
do like to be in nice warm compost heaps. Good if you could move them to
another heap that was going to stay in place all winter.
We used to get them on our old allotment site and I only realised when one
winter a large pile of snail shells built up under some planks next to our
large "hot" compost bin and all with a hole bitten in the side of the shell.
When we emptied the bin the next spring there was a large silver male Slow
worm at the bottom, we just covered him over again.
