Is it possible to get about 4 or 5kg at a reasonable price?

The stuff in garden centres is exoensive!

Yes. It comes in 5litre cans at farm suppliers. It's a viscous
liquid that has to be diluted according to whatever you're trying to
kill.
There are other deadly weedkillers there too..............

Glyphosate is superficially expensive when bought as a generic but it
goes a very very long way due to it being so concentrated. If you only
have a small / medium sized garden a 5 litre tub of concentrate will
last you for several years.

Just don't buy Roundup or pre-diluted "read to use" glyphosate as you
will be paying something like ten times the price (per unit) as the
generic concentrate.

Why buy it now? The weather is already too cold for it to have a full
effect - applied at this time of year is a waste. Break the seal and
oxidation of the contents will make it less effective next year.

I also think you mean that you want a useable liquid formulation
containing glyphosate as the active ingredient rather than the reagent
grade raw material in solid form which is what you asked for.

The stuff in garden centres is exoensive!

How many acres are you planning to defoliate?
A small bottle of the concentrate (~500ml) lasts me a couple of years.

The concentrate is available from agricultural wholesalers if you have
the licence to use it. I doubt they will sell bulk agrochemicals to
random members of the public without a business account.

Martin Brown

5L Roundup or sim £20

5L Glyfos or sim £40

I pt to about 4/5 gals in the knapsack sprayer- getting on for around 20 x
cheaper !

Only snag is that for those with smaller places - several years could turn
out to be several decades.

5L of Roundup for £20?...I don't think so unless it is about 8gm/litre.

I've recently bought 1 litre of Glycosphate 360gm/litre off of ebay for
about £20. £15 for the bottle and £5 postage.

I haven't seen it on sale in any garden centre.

Best to get the name and spelling right so you are sure of what you
are asking for.
It's glyphosate. You are not the only one to get it wrong.
Please tell us why you want so much.

Oh, I forgot to post a couple of weeks ago, Wilkinsons was selling cheap (or
at least, ours was). May still be worth an investigation if you have one
local.
(I don't know what 'cheap' is in context, but it seemed like a good
reduction compared to the RRP)

Yes. They were selling off most garden chemicals last week at 75% off to
make room for the Halloween and Xmas on the shelves. Same at some of
the local garden centres earlier than ever this year. Santas Grotto is
already up and the tedious jangling illuminated monstrosities are on!

I expect Santa will have plenty of time to grow roots this year.

There are now generics, which has brought the prices down dramatically
from when only Monsanto was selling it.

And you probably will not see it there either.
Ours keep it locked away in secure storage.

No licence is required to purchase it. (somebody suggested to the
contrary earlier)
There are probably rules of sale (minors) etc. applicable though.
