Another Privet hedge problem
 

This one at the side of a Public footpath has been dying over the last 5 or
so years. Slowly creeping along as you can see here. The hedge is about 8
feet high.

As you can see, nice and sunny here on the Isle of Wight this morning when I
took the photos, but a biting wind :-((

When privet dies in stages over several years the culprit is often Honey
Fungus, I find Privet a poor hedge plant as it often seems to die in
patches and needs cutting a lot as it grows very quickly,

Dig out a dead plant and look at the roots.

That's what was decided on another Privet Hedge which had creeping death a
few years back. This one is interesting as to 'ownership' inasmuch that if
you look at the second picture you can see a fence, AND, just how much the
hedge is sticking out. That is in its trimmed state, when they let if grow
and then go to trim it, the lamppost in another picture has vanished :-((

The hedge is growing in the path, but the fence, and I suppose the hedge,
belongs to a block of rather nice flats behind it and when the hedge is
pulled out, which is inevitable, a new fence must be put in quick as there
is quite a drop to the car park :-((

THEN, who reinstates the path, which has just been resurfaced?????
