Delphinium seedlings

It was a dark and stormy night, and as the people of uk.rec.gardening
huddled around the fire, bnd777 told them this story:

Well I have a greenhouse full plus lots I have already planted out and they
are doing great
when mine are past seedling stage i pot them up in my own compost which is
of course originally pretty rich in horse manure etc

Ah, but that's the point. Mine never get past seedling
stage. (I'm using peat-free compost, does this make a
difference?)

Delphinium seedlings

Could be
I find that once my seedlings get to a certain stage in standard potting
compost they need the boost of rich compost and then they do not really get
going until I plant them out in the ground
I planted loads of Delphiniums, lupins and Hollyhock seeds in the greenhouse
6 weeks ago
Many are still there however some i risked planting out and they are 10
times bigger than their relatives still in the greenhouse

I dont know the answer but it does go to show theres no right or wrong way
