Flying birds lost again ?
About 1700 hrs in north west london today, we saw about 50 birds or so
travelling together in several * V * formations and they were heading due East. I guess i'm used to seeing birds flying south for the sunny weather and north to come back again; but what would all these guys be doing, do you think? |

Gees - means spring is round the corner - set your yearly clock by gees
leaving = winter + gees arriving = spring - lovely sound to hear this time of year ! "john reves" wrote in message ... Maybe, since these birds took off way down south to fly north, the earth has rotated a bit so when they arrived at their destination it wasn't there any more and so they turned right to find it? Either that or the one in front fancied a curry! Only joking! |

A lot of birds fly east west on migration as well as north south. Birds that breed in Siberia will often winter in relatively ice free Western Europe. Also birds can make daily flights in any direction from roosts to feeding areas. -- Phil Cook |
