Marigold seeds

Got some marigold seeds, but don't know which way up so so them.....black or
white end up.

Advice from my wife who has over 40 years flower gardening experience, drop
them and see which way up they fall. Nature doesn't look to see when they
are dropped.

There's no top or bottom. I've got a load of seedlings coming along
nicely - I just fill a seed tray with compost, sprinkle them (flat)
across the top and cover with vermiculite.
