Peony roses and Rhodendron "Cynthia"

I am amazed at the amount of flowers on both of these in my garden.

Last year a friend of mine told me about the "spent" coffee granules, her daughter works in one of the banks and in their cafe all the people who are into gardening were asking for the used granules from their coffee machine.
She was told by one of them that it helps the plants. So she got me a couple of bags full of them and I put them round my plants and wow!

We used to pick up coffee grounds from work, but they seem to have stopped
bagging them for collection these days. :-(
I have to say, I didn't notice any difference. Although I was using them as
a slug deterrent rather than a fertiliser, and I don't have peonies or
rhodedendrons. Are they both acid-loving, by any chance?

Hi
Yes most of my plants are acid loving and lucky I have acid soil in my garden.
I put the "grounds" around all of my garden last year and it really has made a difference. Although with that sunshine we had last month everything has flowered a bit earlier than usual, normally the rhodedenron does not flower until the first week in June but she is blooming well now.
