Hi guys,

Does anybody had any tips for reducing the effect of dog urine on lawns?

The simple answer would be to get rid of the dog! :o)

Presumably a bitch?
Its urine is more likely to mark the grass.
Probably best just to flood the area with water - after a while you will get
big green clumps of grass where there was a brown burnt bit.
Just overly concentrated fertiliser and the grass usually recovers in time
and then is grateful.

This was discussed here before, some while ago. I heard that adding a
teaspoon of tomato juice to the dog's feed would prevent this.
Someone came up with a different solution, can't remember what.

Widely held to be a problem only with bitches but its just as bad if your
dog is like mine and doesn't cock his leg! My mum swears by some special
stones she has in the dogs water bowl and I have heard tomato sauce in the
diet can help (Although not sure about the long term effects on the dog) the
method we were taught by the Guide dogs for the blind was to drench the area
with water or train the dog to use a patch grass left especially long

Yes we've trained our Golden to run out into the long grass in the
fields. Very easy to do and well worth it. The disadvantage of this
when traveling, for a the first couple of years it wasn't always
possible convince him that it was OK to pee at a rest area or on pavement.

Other than that, drenching with the hose I guess.
