OT but of interest to ex RAF urglers
Ex RAF erks will be interested to know that this year's massive parade at
RAF Cosford with the RAF Band on Sunday 20th May, will, subject to the weather, have a fly past of the Avro Vulcan Bomber. It is due at Alrewas Forces Memorial during the unveiling of the Falkland's Memorial at 12.45 and it is being diverted to the RAF Cosford parade either 3 minutes before on its way there, or 3 minutes later on its way back. At 1300, the Battle of Britain Lancaster Bomber will give not just a fly past, but a display as well. Family Day which is free details here http://www.nsrafa.org/%5CDiaryDates.aspx Chief of the Air Staff or his 2nd in command is the Reviewing Officer. I will be with the Commanding Officer of RAF Cosford, but would be pleased to meet any urglers or Gardenbanter subscribers and my wife would be pleased to talk gardening. (There, that's brought it on topic) Mike -- .................................... I'm an Angel, honest ! The horns are there just to keep the halo straight. .................................... |

One wonders why exactly why a former member of the RN reserve such as yourself, seems to be fixated on anything to do with the RAF, even to the extent of in the past running ex RAF service associations? |

M54 junction 3 well signposted the Cosford Museum BUT don't turn into RAF Cosford on your right. Go past that, under the railway bridge, turn right with the road and follow the crowds. RAF Cadets will be directing you to the car parking. Food at the Museum or at the stalls outside the hanger. See you there Mike -- .................................... I'm an Angel, honest ! Special celebration because it's 10 years now since the Association was formed and using RAF Cosford's facilities. And if you bring your own picnic you can be cheeky and use the tables and benches outside the museum and it will cost you nothing. Even the museum is free, but a contribution would be welcomed by the staff. No car parking charges. No charge to see the fly past. Central Band of the RAF ..... free Come and have a chat. ....... I will be busy but would never send you away because 'I am too busy'. However, I do have to be away quite pronto as I it looks as if I have a Royal Navy H.M.Ship's Association Committee meeting in Dudley later in the afternoon ;-) (About 4.00pm I think. Not yet confirmed) Mike -- .................................... I'm an Angel, honest ! The horns are there just to keep the halo straight. .................................... |

I didn't know there was still a Vulcan flying. I know one was got up and flyng again but I thought it was grounded for lack of maintenance funds? Next to Concord, must be the most amazing plane. Pete C Bit of a hike and a busy weekend for me too!! But as it's the 10th Anniversary, they want me there. I believe it was grounded due to lack of funds, but I am assured by the secretary who organizes the day, that it is coming ;-) weather permitting, so they must have dug deep into a few pockets. Let's hope someone is out shaking the buckets ;-) (Might be an idea to have words with the Treasurer and suggest it ;-) Mike -- .................................... I'm an Angel, honest ! Pete C Well I have just had words with the Treasurer and yes the Vulcan is flying and furthermore, is not costing us anything, so what I have suggested is that they do a detour on the way up to Alrewas AND on the way back and that the Collecting Buckets will be out and about ;-) With a couple of thousand people there, there should be a good collection. (The Lancaster is costing £1000.00 plus £300.00 Insurance for a display if anyone is interested) Mike -- .................................... I'm an Angel, honest !
