Nasty patch on lawn ............
 

.............. this morning. Saucer sized. Turned the lawn brown. Bitch Fox?
Given it a thorough soaking, but madam gardener seems to think that there
should be something added to the water.

As far as I know once the grass is brown there is no going back, if you
catch the culprit in the act then the water drench works well. My mother
swears by some sort of stone she puts in the dogs water bowl, as ours rarely
drinks from indoor water it doesn't work for me!
I take it you have no dog of your own to blame? it does not by the way have
to be a bitch, dogs urine is just as bad but they normally spray it around
more so it is not so concentrated, ours doesn't cock his leg which is good
for the clematis and roses the previous dog used to scorch with his wee but
bad for my grass which is covered in brown patches.

If anyone else has pearls of wisdom to add I too would like to hear them!

One other possible culprit is petrol

Not not our dogs, we don't have them now. We used to do the Guide Dogs for
the Blind Puppy Walking Scheme whereby the dogs were trained to go to the
loo on command where you wanted them to go ;-)

Not petrol either. Petrol is either in the car's tank or the motor bike's
tank ;-)

Any tips more than welcome ;-)

More than once on GQT Bunny Guinness has recommended adding tomato
ketchup to dogs' food to prevent this happening.
If it's foxes and you don't feed them this won't work!

Sometimes brown patches in lawns could be caused by chafer grubs.

Or, indeed, leatherjackets. But normally the woodpeckers & friends
sort that out for me. I've seen the ants in my case.
