Default Dahlia's

Despite last nights near grass frost - whatever happened to ground
frost?, my dahlia's are just about to flower! This is bacause after
planting them directly into the soil last may, I was away for a month,
and the slugs had a wonderful time with them - on my return and
following large doses of slug pellets, they recovered but are about 6
weeks behind time.

My real question is, if they do get caught by a frost now before really
coming into flower, will the tubers be strong enough to survive (stored
of course) over the winter and grow again next year?
