But is there a market in the UK or even the EU for peony seeds for making
oil? Can't say I've ever seen Peony Oil in Sainsburys. :-)

It is used whenever more expensive snake oil is unavailable.

A little research indicates that it is something the Chinese value, it hasn't caught on elsewhere. I would imagine that one would need Chinese agricultural labour costs and Chinese agricultural conditions to make money from growing it.

My tree peonies (lutea) produce such a reliable crop of very large
seeds, I'm glad to have found a use for them at TEOTWAWKI, which I
believe is due(again) in December.

The birds and squirrels leave them well alone so I'd never even
considere they might be edible.

They may not be. Incidentally any suggestions how to germinate them?

It's another 'wonder product' that is 'very good for you' and 'make you live longer' .............................. well so they claim. :-)

Peony Seed Oil

Peony seed oil is a kind of fatty acid extracted from peony seed. Most of the constituents contain more than 90% unsaturated fatty acid, among which a- linolenic acid accounts for more than 40%. It is capable of enhancing intelligence, deferring senility, strengthening immunity, lowering blood fat, blood pressure and blood sugar and inhibiting cancers.

What? It doesn't even make your teeth whiter, and make you
irrestistably attractive to the sex of your preference? Quite
useless.

Very easy. I sow them straight off the bush when ripe, in a pot of
gritty soil and leave it outside over winter. They germinate the
following spring.

OK. Thanks for that. I am just being impatient I guess.

The Chinese site says 25C for 60 days to break dormancy do they need
that much extra heat to get going or are the cultivars in the UK easier?

Thanks for that. I reckon I'll stick to bile tapped from live bears.
