Just a thought.
What would happen if you used a ho;;owed out Pumpkin as an Autumn planter?
With drainage holes in the base naturally.

It would probably degrade and decay within a few weeks.
Pumpkins are very full of water and are not what one would
call 'a winter squash'. It might work with a hard squash
like Crown Prince, but again only for a short while. Nice
idea though.
