Hello everyone, my name is Liliana, living in Thatcham, Berks.

I live in a bungalow with my husband and my dog.

I have grown flowers and vegetables for a long time now, but I always want to know and do more in the garden.

Happy New Year.

Newbies always welcome to the group Liliana, and happy new year to you. I
remember when I was driving night shifts to Thatcham, it always seemed to be
more prone to frosts than the surrounding areas, have you found this?

Hello Liliana,

Welcome from a contributor who lives in Reading! I sometimes have been
asked to play (I'm an organist) at the West Berks crematorium at
Thatcham but, other than that, I haven't been to Thatcham for many a
long year. I have a small garden in Reading, used to have an allotment,
but most of my gardening now is done in Normandy in northern France. My
speciality is grapes for wine-making. I also have a cider-apple orchard.

David

Welcome and Happy New Year, Liliana. Hope you have a good year's
gardening ahead of you. I'm mostly a flower gardener, but grow a few
vegetables. I love dogs, but confess this is a cat household, plus a
few fish in the pond.

I know we are prone to frosts, but I am lucky where I live, in a cul-de-sac, in a corner, so we are sheltered. It helped us last year,2012, we had a very good crop of apples and pears.

I try to grow quite a few veg, but I like to grow flowers as well. I do not specialise in anything, though last year, I treated myself to some unusual seeds, which I am going to try this year.
As we rent our bungalow, we are limited as to what we can do with the garden, so we grow everything in the flower borders.
