Default heat mat for seedlings

I purchased a windowsill heat mat. It says it will heat to 20oC but it does not have a thermostat. If I connect a timer to it, how many minutes should I set it at to keep the temperature even.

as a by the way comment I found a perfect seedling heater, I have one of
those low wattage clothes horses from Lakeland, the ones that fold out
into three heated levels.

Each shelf or level is just big enough to fit those plastic trays from
the grocer. I can get 12 square pots in a tray and so currently the
washing is on the radiator and the seeds on the clothes horse

Temperature rise (above ambient) is proportional to average heater power, so if your timer switches it on and off once a minute, you get half the average power used and half the temp rise.

20C is meaningless unless it also states what temp it was before using the mat.

Hi Janet,
I got to go online and check out Lakeland, that sounds like a good idea. I hope the sun shines for you, then you can hang out the clothes.
