Cheapest is to stand there waving your arms and shouting "oi, gerroffmyland".
Most realistically effective that is cheapest, I'd say buy the sturdiest net
you can afford in your budget and throw it over.
(we used cheap ones once or twice, and they are ruined by rain and bindweed
by the time we bring them in, no use reusing)

I assume you mean from birds in which case get some woven netting and throw
it over the trees, you can make a sort of cage with canes if you have them
which makes it easier to pick the fruit. Make sure you get enough to cover
the trees to the ground. However, we had nets over our cherry trees last
year and lost all the fruit anyway, from looking at the holes in the ground
it was mice, so this year it's nets against the birds and baffles on the
trunks to stop the mice climbing up.

Ahhh, ooops, I meant fruit. A row of raspberries across the width, a
couple of gooseberry bushes, 4 currant bushes, a couple of gages, an
apple, a cherry. Actually, the g, a & c aren't going to fruit this year
so just need to protect the raspberries gooseberries & currants. (The
trees ultimately are going to be height-limited so as not to upset the
neighbours.)
