Does anyone happen to know which Iris this is? I'm assuming it's an
Iris! For 2 or 3 years, we've had a clump of leaves in very scant soil
on the edge of a pond and this year we have flowers for the first time.
It's not in the water, though it may get a bit of dampness if any
splashes over the edge of the liner. It's obviously put itself there
but we have no idea how.

Don't think so but thanks, Charlie. I think ours is a bit 'browner'
than that. Though, as you say, it could be a seedling. Btw, Clematis
Luccombe Park is flowering like a mad thing. Wonderful plant!

It could be a seedling from Holden Clough, unfortunately some nurseries grow
from seed as it's a lot quicker than splitting the rhyzome as it should be
done.

Did you know this......

Looks like foetidissima, which a lot of people grow for its bright red seeds.

Lovely site. I would have saved it, but they're retiring :~(. What a
shame.

Aaagh! Lambton Park - Luccombe Oak is not like a Clematis! As to the
Iris, Iris foetidissima has been suggested.

It's a native, which make a lot of sense since your plant has arrived without help from you. This pic looks very like yours
