Another good one!
 

Another glorious day here and I'm enjoying cool air through the study
window while I still can. Ray had to water the largest greenhouse 3
times yesterday! Tumbler tomatoes are ripening in succession now, which
is lovely for us and the Salvias are blooming well. Nicotiana mutabilis
is flowering beautifuly round the pond and we hope it makes it through
the winter and so bulks up for next year. The rose Wedding Day is just
covered in flowers. It's a good 'do-er' at any time but I'm sure it's
better than ever this year. Everything seems to be luxuriating in all
this sun after all that rain!

As you say Sacha, this ghastly weather is going on and on. I am still
trying to pot and plunge my dahlias but I can only do them in the
evening as they just wouldn't like being potted and then stuck out in
full sun with the shade temp getting into the low 80's f then I have to
hose water them every other evening, this is made more important as I am
using a choir based compost which dries out much quicker than peat.

The lack of rain means that the flowers of one of my roses are just
staying on and looking great

"If you can't beat it" I've got my recliner in the shade out the field
and with a book, the radio and a flask, so when I need a break it's all
there.

Not into G & T but in this heat I'm dousing shandy, I found Thwaites
Dark Mild which makes a shandy with body, a can makes around 1 1/2 pints
of shandy and doesn't touch the sides in this heat.Just for a change a
pint of cider shandy also goes down well.
But I have been known to drink from the hose when watering.
That's the joy of the cushy life we lead.
