My daughter has this growing in her garden and its just smothered in
flowers. It's not one I knew, which seems a glaring omission! But it's
very lovely.

Certainly would, David! Thank you. We noticed it had only the faintest
scent but it's so pretty and as you say, so vigorous that I think it
can be forgiven. Very kind of you!

Don't underestimate its vigour. Think Clematis montana in terms of height and spread (although it's not so fast growing).

You must have poor stock then, I've had over 20ft of growth in one
season (one stem)
and I have one that's about 25 to 30 ft up into an Oak tree.
It's one plant I don't like to turn my back on for long

don't overestimate it's scent, there isn't any and the flowers can be
very 'insignificant ' compared to most lonicera. Dug it out of several
gardens to be replaced by 'proper' honeysuckle.

I did say it had no real scent.
Not one to plant if it's your only honeysuckle, but interesting if you
have plenty of space.

I like the colour of the flowers very much, so the 'no real scent'
thing doesn't bother me much. We have several shrubby honeysuckles
which have no scent but what are a real garden adornment, imo.
