Default Bizarre goings on with apple tree grafts

I grafter 16 scions of various apple trees on to MM106 rootstocks in Feb
only three came through by about may, but the 13th finally started shooting
in July but it was covered in BLOSSOM with no leaves for a few weeks before
finally greening up. Anyone seen this before?
