Not one drop has fallen though it was 'promised' last night. There's a
lot of cloud in the sky and a lot of blue patches, too. The wind is
still NW, so I'm guessing rain won't come until it goes round more to
the south.

About 8 mm overnight up here. Still raining and the radar shows more
on the way. Temp 8 C, NNE'ly which is a bit odd as the radar shows
the rain moving up from the SSE...

Cooler here but a clear blue sky and with luck it will hold all day.

Is it very windy? There are gales heading your way.

Breezy here but no more than that. The sun is now shining brightly from
a clear sky at almost 10am.

The Earth constantly revolving on its axis in its obit round the sun and
it's ray being universally spread over its surface, it necessarily follows
that the sun is always over the yard arm

Now up to 37 mm @ 2000. Still raining... 7 C, wind F4 to F5, chill
between 0 and -5 C.

South Tyne level up to the "flooding is possible" point at 1830. So
risen about 3'6" in the 4.5 hours since 1400 when it really started
to rise.

Raymond just came in and told me about this. What IS it about us that
we can't manage what we know is likely to happen. I hope everyone
stays safe. And to be honest, it feels utterly ridiculous having to
hope for that.

That's the level at the gauging station down in town(*). ie the river
is full but with depth of the channel and the fall it really has to
chuck it down for quite a while before places get flooded.

44 mm @ 2300. Wind has dropped to F1, temp 6 to 7 C.

(*) It's now
dropping:
