Peat free
The MD and Gardeners world thread is on about peat free compost.
A number of local authorities now stipulate that plants they buy must be grown in peat free compost. With the RHS Peat accounts for less than 0.7 per cent of all growing media and soil conditioners that the charity uses in its gardens. At its flower shows it bans the use of peat for staging, and discourages the use for growing with it's exhibitors. The RHS policy can be seen at http://www.rhs.org.uk/Gardening/Sust...d-the-gardener. |
