BBC Winterwatch predicted for the rest of the winter:

Changeable
Wettest in the NW
Temps near normal

I would never have guessed that!

Nick Maclaren.

I wonder how much it cost to come up with that gem of prediction. However I
suppose it's good that we are not about to get the US weather, they used to
say we get NYs 6 weeks later.

The BBC's stomach churning reverence for wildlife is really getting on
my nerves now.

I hardly ever watch a wildlife programme now, to me they seem to all be

I'd rephrase that as the BBC " Pandering to TV audiences's sickly
tastes in fluffywuffy anthropomorphic wallpaper.. and cakes.. and silly

Too true; they go straight to the recycle bin, unless they're one of the
few I order from.
Don't know The Specialist, though I've known a number of specialists
(Military definition: some S.O.B. from somewhere else).

It's one of the classic humorous books - quite small - by Charles
Sale. It's worth looking out for.
