espalier fail
Last year I decided that the peach tree on the south facing wall had
enough of a trunk to stand up by itself. Worked great when there wasn't any fruit, but then http://tinyurl.com/ojze53n At least there's lots of fruit! http://tinyurl.com/p5khexp And, no ladder needed to pick it! Of course can't get the car into the driveway, but whatever. Nearly harvest time, then I'll get some spikes into the wall and tie it back in. This is a white fleshed variety called 'Mme Girard' that seems to do quite well in our climate, the fruit even survives late frosts (not that we had any this year) so long as it gets a chance to set. -E -- Gardening in Lower Normandy |
