Default Eschalote Grise

Just a "heads up" but Marshalls are doing BOGOF on their Eschalote Grise
sets, 30 for the price of 15. These are much larger sets than I have seen
before of this highly prized variety (by French chefs).
Whilst it may be getting a bit late to plant in some areas you can plant
them in modules and overwinter in a cold greenhouse etc and then plant out
in the spring.

Needless to say I bought 15 at full price!

You may be lucky or, like a friend, you may have bought ones heat treated
for storage so they will never grow. Only time will tell.
BTW I understood Echalion shallots were a cross between onions and shallots
and grown from seed, ie. they do not bulk up like shallots.
