I bought a couple of Calceolaria today in Lidl and they had them
labelled as "Pocketbook plant", that's a new one to me.

American for purse or wallet. I've heard people call them a 'purse plant'.

Wikipedia says they are known as...
lady's purse, slipper flower, pocketbook flower, or slipperwort.
I would suggest it might be from across the pond
