Thanks, Christina! I won't bother with them again.

You should.

Why? I bought stuff that didn't work at all. Yours is puny ...

But they are there, waiting to be saved. Do try. Asda have plants
waiting to be bought, but no-one ever waters them so they wilt and
die. It's probably not in anyone's job description to do it. How bad
is that?

The mushroom pack I bought didn't need to be watered until I set it up.

With a lot of these places the answer is to get the plants just after
they arrive in store, and not when they have been sitting there for
weeks or months.
Also if they are the type of place that gets in mixed plants then you
can find the odd treasure that has been put in to make up numbers.

I agree about the plants, but I was talking about a pack of mushroom
(fungus/spores??) I bought 2 packs, followed directions to the letter
and never got a single flippin' mushroom! Pound shop plant stuff iss
now verboten!!! ... well unless they are living plants with roots etc g

Wilkos is pretty flush with bare root plants and summer bulbs. I trust
them slightly more than Poundshop

Thanks Stuart. I don't think we have one up here, but next time I am down I
will have a look!

Just bough a Paul Scarlet rambling rose for 99p in my local 99p store.
At least that's what it said and looked like in the photo on the
carboard label. Admittedly, not the greatest quality rose, having lied
around in a warm store in dark packaging with a few leaves and thin
stems with no chlorophyl, bur we can soon put that to rights. Too good a
bargain to ignore considering many nurseries would charge upwards of £10
for such a plant. Now potted up, so I shall wait and see.

For not a lot more Lidl have some first class bare root roses on sale.

Yeah, I.ve seen them. They look good quality too. They are selling for
£2.10. Only problem is that they don't put the names of the varieties on the
packaging, so you don't know what you are buying or whether that rose is
scented. I've noticed a lot of Polyanthas included as well as Hybrid Teas.
