Storing seed potatoes
 

I am saving some of my potatoes as seed and have decided that as they
are all egg sized I will use transparent egg boxes.
One potato to each cell so if there is any rot it wont get transmitted
to surrounding potatoes and with light getting to them they should chit
earlier.

I guess you're using plastic egg boxes then. Poke a little hole in the lid in the centre of each cell. Otherwise moisture gets trapped and you will get rot. Only a little hole needed, but you need that bit of ventilation.

(Yep, it's me. I do look in occasionally from the other side of the bay.)

I've always just used a normal seed tray with a little dry potting compost
in the bottom to hold the potatoes upright, place in the light and keep dry
and they seem to sprout well in spring. By the time it comes to plant
usually the roots are growing well in the compost.
