wallflowers from seed?
 

Having ordered some Linaria seeds from an ebay seller, I found i could order
something else for a paltry sum inc free delivery so I opted for some
wallflower seeds.

After googling, it seems that these plants are normally supplied in
'plugs' - none of the half dozen or so seed outlets, Suttons, fothergill's
etc supply seeds, why is this? - Have I purchased a pig in a poke?

Do you have any idea how to search for things on the web?
No problems finding wallflower seeds from the firms you mentioned and
all other I checked.

Not true particularly. The are commonly supplied as seed, plugs and
bare root (in autumn). A bit too early yet to either sow seed or buy
plugs I think, but soon - look at the packet.

No, not at all. Wallflowers do well from seed (and germinate easily
outside). They are biennial, so plants you start now will flower next
spring.

This means you have to look after them this summer, which is the most
difficult thing about them. If you don't already have their final space
available, or the luxury of a nursery bed, you have to keep them in
pots, and they'd need potting on at least a couple of times before the
autumn - whether from plugs or seed.

virtually all my Wallflower plants have dropped seed, which regrow into more plants, but think you need them fresh from the plant, or stick some cuttings in, they mostly take!
