Question Garden multi tool

I'm looking for one of these with hedge trimmer and pole saw heads. I've spent 'weeks' researching. There are some incredibly cheap Chinese made ones, with various feedback responses. They are incredibly cheap retail. If you found the factory gate price, you would see it was about 25% of UK retail!

One model I have in serious consideration is the Makita EX2650LH engine unit with the two heads. Might any one have experience of this model please? I also have Stihl and Cobra 270k on my list. Views etc on multi units more generally would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Stihl wins every time if you want a proper professional tool. Others are
very much hobbyist tools of varying quality but I have found the various
Mitox tools I've got pretty durable and (touches lots of wood) trouble
free. My Mitox multi-tool is just coming to the end of its first season
and have used both the pole saw and trimmer heads but not the strimmer/
brushcutter as I've already got those. It was cheaper to buy the full
kit which was on offer than to buy what I actually needed.

Thanks ET. Stihl was top of my list. I have a Stihl chainsaw and very good it is too. However, whilst it is the best 2 stroke I've had for starting, it certainly can be naughty. I know a professional tree surgeon, and I've seen him having to pull the cord much to often. The Makita is 4 stroke, and the engine is used in many units. The feedback on easy starting and quiet operation is top drawer. I don't think that the Makita could be said to a be a hobbyist unit. There is also a 3 year warranty - 2 with Stihl I think.

Which Mitox are you using? I looked at the 28MT, but they are all out of stock.

We have a garden of about an acre which I planted up 40 years ago. Much, as intended, is semi wild, but it does now need some attention. I thought a multi unit with lopper and hedge cutter should complement the chain saw rather well.

I bought the 26MT - it was an 'anniversary special' at £100 less than the
website is showing now. Difference was in the length of the hedgetrimmer
which is c10cm shorter than the 38 but every other part was identical.

Yes, our garden is c1 acre too with a fair few hedges of various types
and heights. Hardest work the hedgetrimmer has had so far is cutting
back the inside face of a laurel hedge that is about 7' tall and runs for
far too long along the bridleway. Growth was 4, maybe 5 seasons. The
top and outer face is cut by flail mower (its a lot easier and save
collecting the rubbish :-)).
