Does this look like rust disease?

Annabelle is right next to this one and no signs of it on that one.

Thanks.

It looks too irregular for rust and in any case that appears on the
underside of the leaf, not the top.

Thank you very much. When I searched rust disease it didn't look quite
the same as some of the photos.

If it was rust, you would see orange spots on the top of leaves and rust postules on the back/bottom side of the leaves. Rubbing the back of the leaves will release an orange dust which contains spores of the fungus. The disease is usually seen near the end of the growing season and rarely kills plants.

The leaf lesions are probably the result of insect pests that like to suck on (usually new) foliage to gain access to cell contents but, since they are now gone, you cannot accurately identify them. Be on the look out next year, starting about 1 month before the first signs first appeared. Remember to look above and below the leaves. The damage seems minor and aesthetic only. You can cut off the worst looking leaves if you prefer. Some pests, like spider mites, can be extremely small although spider mites sometimes produce webbing which can help identify them.
